Main page for NBM message implementations

Introduction

These pages describe messages to be exchanged between the 4 Nordic Transmission System Operators (TSO) in order to balance the entire Nordic region as one synchronization area.
To do this, the Nordic transmission system operators in the respective countries have collaborated on a common solution for exchanging consistent and harmonized data for the various processes. The result of this work is these pages.

There are several projects within the Nordic Balancing Model (NBM), and these pages focus on the project mFRR Energy Market (mFRR EAM).

The target audience for this documentation are developers within the Transmission System Operators.

This and the following pages contain business requirements, message descriptions, clarifications, examples, and schemas(XSD).

Scope

The documents or messages documented on these pages are the main source of how data should be exchanged between TSO and AOF(Activation Optimisation Function) and BSP/TSO. When it comes to the exchange between BSP(Balancing Service Provider) and TSO, the main source document is located elsewhere. The pages here may still include the message implementation used, but should not be considered a master for BSP, but rather as a guide internally for the TSOs. All processes and needs are not fully covered by these documents, as we are in an agile process and have not uncovered all the purposes of messages. Parts of the messages may be updated as a result of new purposes or needs, it will be noted in change log. Mainly we deal with here exchange TSO-TSO, but also TSO-AOF and we can document exchanges with BSS for internal (TSO) processes.

Roles and Business processes

The purpose of exchanging data in a NBM view are shown here.

TSO - Transmission System Operator :

  • Is responsible to send data to AOF

  • Is responsible to send the same data to common as to the other TSOs.

Documentation structure and content

The pages are set up so that messages and processes are documented under which roles interact, TSO-TSO, TSO-AOF and TSO-BSP.

Business Requirement Specifications

Contains requirements, definitions, message codes, processes and connected messages:
